Membership Categories
The Club offers Full, Full Family, Associate, Full Student, Associate Student, Junior Country, Honorary and Group membership.
The membership year is from 1st March to 28th ( 29th ) February. Application for membership should be made to the membership secretary.
Full membership
Gives the right to sail and keep a dinghy on the club's premises during season provided it is of a class or type approved by the Committee, and the right for the member to use the Club's facilities under the direction of the Committee.
Full Family membership
Gives the privileges of a full member and also the right for the member's spouse and children up to the age of 14 to use the Club's facilities.
Full members are entitled to a vote at General Meetings of the Club and if they are the owner of a registered boat, are entitled to an extra vote.
Associate membership
Gives the right to sail any dinghy not owned by the member which is kept at the club by a full member with their permission and the right to use the Clubs facilities under the direction of the Committee.
Student Membership
May be granted at the discretion of the General Committee to persons aged over 18 years who are in full education or training. Full Student Members may be transferred to Full, Full Family or Associate without payment of an entrance fee, provided they have been a Full Student Member for two years.
Junior membership
Is available to persons aged between 14 and 18 and gives the right to use the Club's facilities. A Junior member shall cease to be a Junior at the end of the year preceding the year in which he attains 18 years of age. A Junior member may be transferred to any other category of membership without payment of the entrance fee provided that he has been a Junior member for two years.
Group membership
May be provided to organisations at the discretion of the Committee, Please contact the Commodore for further information(see Contact Us page).
Country membership
Is available at the discretion of the Committee to members who have been Full, Full Family, Associate, Family Associate or Junior members but who live at a distance too remote to enable them to make normal use of the Club facilities or are unable to make use of the Sailing facilities provided by the Club.
The Club House represents a large investment and members have put a lot of time, work and money into making it one of the finest in the North. New members are therefore charged a joining fee as a contribution to this investment.
